Introduction

Hiring a private chef is more common than you may think - and this is for good reason.

  • The best athletes in the world hire their own chefs,
  • The fabulously rich hire their own chefs,
  • And even people with complex health conditions hire their own chefs.

These people are hiring a private chef for convenience, enjoyment, and for health. But how does a private chef help with health?

Having your own chef provides a layer of intimacy with your food that you cannot achieve through meal delivery or through restaurants.

You can hire a chef to meal prep for you, to prep your food in your kitchen for events, and even to serve hot food in your kitchen - like a restaurant. Some chefs will even travel with you around the world.

But why hire a chef? Why not just eat at restaurants?

The truth is, there are almost no restaurants that serve truly healthy food.

Most restaurants design their food to be hyper-palatable and trick your taste buds - don't get me wrong, this tastes amazing, but this isn't the best choice for your health - and it's not very convenient to wait around for an hour whilst your food is being cooked.

Even well-intentioned restaurant owners will use unhealthy ingredients so they can attract more customers through flavour.

If you have any health conditions or dietary restrictions - it makes it difficult to eat anywhere. Everything seems to be contaminated with sugar, plastics, preservatives, and pesticides. This is a different world than our grandparents grew up with - it should not be so difficult to just buy real food.

That's where a private chef can help by providing bespoke meals that exclude these nasty ingredients - you can get a personal service, which saves you time, and focuses on your health.

Who should get a private chef?

You might want a private chef if:

  • You are extremely busy,
  • You don't have time to take care of their health,
  • You tend to eat out a lot / use a meal delivery service.
  • You have a health condition you managed through your diet
  • You have other unique food requirements

Does this mean you stop eating at restaurants?

It's unlikely you will stop eating at restaurants, but the idea is to make at least 90% to 95% of your food come from a good source.

Choosing the balance between eating out and having home-cooked foods.

To understand why a private chef is the best choice for your health - you first need to understand why diet is so important.

The role of diet in human health

This is also known as a root-cause medicine tree. It allows you to visually understand where your health problems are coming from.

As you can see from the image above, the food you eat is connected to pretty much every system in you body.

If you have bloating, high blood pressure, anxiety, infertility, skin problems, weight problems - This means you need to change something in your diet.

This may not seem obvious if you have never considered the role of the diet, but it's actually very straightforward - and this applies to all living things.

You see, humans evolved to eat a certain way. For around 2.5m years we ate nose-to-tail animal foods in social environments with foraged foods. All of these foods were organic and wild.

This means we evolved to thrive on certain foods - and these are the foods that make us the healthiest.

It's only been in the past 100 years that we've eaten seed oils and all the hyper palatable hjunk foods you see in supermarkets. And, i'ts only been around 100 years we've had this obesity epidemic and rise in heart disease, type II diabetes, depression, infertility.

In short - our modern lives are killing us.

We may wear modern clothes and gadgets - but the truth is, we never left the cave.

We are still cave people genetically - And this will not change for a few hundred thousand years.

So eating good food is pretty much mandatory for health.

The modern day problem

Evil food corporations controlling dietary regulations.

Now comes the real issue, it's virtually impossible to find real food in the western world.

  • Everything is stored in plastics which release BPA, BPC, xenoestrogens, and phthalates
  • We have preservatives, gums, stabilisers, colourings, natural sweeteners in EVERYTHING
  • We have pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides in our food.
  • We turn natural health-foods (e.g. beef) into fake meat products which are just junk food
  • We sterilise our food by heating it e.g. milk and traditional foods which required fermentation
  • We crush seeds and make them into toxic sludge which produces seed oils.

The worst part is - unless you are aware of these things, you will get burned by them.

Legislation moves a snails pace when it comes to junk-foods, but is very quick to villainise whole-foods like red meat, salt, and animal fats - these are real health foods. Every year, there's a new 'wonder' food, which is just another processed food, e.g. fake meat. It's because there are funded interests in junk foods, but it's expensive to produce whole foods.

A whole food is an item where there are no other ingredients on the packet e.g. steak, eggs, fish, broccoli. These foods are safer and more natural.

Cereals, cakes, nut milks, jarred foods, bread are NOT a whole-foods because they are made in factories by processing many ingredients to preserve their shelf-life and taste good. Our taste buds love the flavour of these foods, so we overeat, and bodies malfunction, which causes illness and disease.

You want to stay ahead of the curve and eat what has been proven to be safe for 2.5 million years - That is WHOLE NATURAL FOODS

The issue is, you cannot find these foods anywhere.

If you are eating at restaurants, a friends home, meal delivery service, food truck - You are always forced to compromise your health ideals on something - whether that's sugar, plastics, or hidden ingredients.

The truth is, there are ONLY 3 ways to be healthy in this modern world

The 3 ways to eat healthy

1. Find a healthy food options when you are out.

As mentioned before, finding real food in the UK is virtually impossible today. In order to keep costs under control, food businesses always make some form of compromise to be financially viable, and this is usually at the expense of the consumer.

This usually means using jarred foods with hidden ingredients, seed oils, plastics to heat your food, unfiltered water, pesticides...

We're not gonna sugar coat it - Meal prep companies are trash. The meal delivery models does not allow you to store certain foods overnight (e.g. beef), and therefore, meal prep companies will lie to you and tell you that grains are 'healthy' just because they are easier to store overnight.

These meals are designed for microwaves, not for health.

Meal prep companies gas-flush meals to keep them 'fresh' and use pre-cut vegetables to save costs and time.

2. Cook everything yourself at home from scratch

This is a great idea. This option works well for the majority of people. This is a great healthy option which also allows you to learn more about the food you are sourcing. You can choose to buy ingredients that are free-from nasties and focus on nutrient dense meats, fruits, and veggies from local farms - More people should make home-cooked food.

But this is not possible for everyone.

This is too time-consuming. To give you an example, for our private chef and nutritionist service, it can take more than 18 hours of labour per week for one person to make interesting meals.

You need to shop for high quality ingredients, meal plan around your health, cook and wash.

I'm sure you can smash-out all your food in one or two hours per week - but let's be honest, it's unlikely you will be eating anything interesting (or getting your nutrients).

3. Use a private chef and nutritionist service

The great thing about a private chef and nutritionist service is that you can your cake and eat it too. You can experience high quality ingredients, prepared how you like it, for your dietary needs. Imagine just waking up, and your food is done. No thinking required.

You can have hot meals in your kitchen, meals prepped in your fridge, dinner parties - all using 100% organic ingredients with no nasties.

The only thing to be aware of, is that a nutritionist and a chef are two different professions. It's unlikely you will find someone who can be a good chef and a good nutritionist. That's why at Biospan, we've married the two service together for our Biocheffing service.
